Similar to Breen-700 variety, but this piece is an amazing specimen striking unlike any other example we’ve ever seen or traced through 150+ years of auction catalogs and reference books.

And it is in an equally astonishing state of preservation, with superb reflective fields, intricate die lines, pretty violet and sea green toning and brilliant mint red lingering in the devices.

Which explains why PCGS has deemed this piece a 67, the single highest grade they have ever given to a colonial era coin.  Indeed, the only other coins graded at this level in the colonial category at PCGS are a few Washington Draped Bust Restrikes made in the 1860’s.

Making this quite possibly the single finest colonial era coin of any series, type or variety in existence.  Think about that.

Ex Stack’s January 2006 sale of the Ford Collection, Part XIII, lot #26 where it was described as a Proof and realized $31,625.

This coin is from the CRO archives and is not currently available for sale.
