In the category of "And now for something completely different" we are pleased to present this set of 3 silver and 3 gold merit medals awarded by the Chauncy Hall School, Boston, to two high achieving Whitney family brothers.

With three medals awarded to David R. Whitney in 1842, and three awarded to William F. Whitney, Jr. in 1864 and 1866.

And the family clearly cherished these, having obtained a custom wooden display box to house the medals, the original suspension ribbons and all related ephemera.

In all, a lovely, historic, well preserved, artfully displayed set that is certainly the only one of its kind.

This coin is from the CRO archives and is not currently available for sale.
