1787 Connecticut Copper
Laughing Head, Miller 6.1-M
MS65 BN [PCGS]
M. 6.1-M, W-2820 Laughing Head type, considered to be Rarity-1.
Connecticut Coppers were made over a period of 4 years from 1785 to 1788 in hundreds of individually distinctive die varieties which all exhibit one thing in common: They tend to be indifferently made with inconsistencies of strike on generally poorly made, often flawed planchets. Moreover, most survivors are well worn (at best), and/or environmentally damaged and otherwise abused (at worst).
Making this superbly made, razor sharp, amazingly lustrous and all but pristine piece something of a freak of nature, and about as superb a type coin as one could ever hope to find in this series.
