Canada Blacksmith Token
The Finest Seen
BL-10, Wood-14 variety, circa 1820.
One of the early, incredibly crude and thus delightfully charming Canadian Tokens of this era, this with a simple silhouetted obverse portrait of a figure notable for his hair ribbons which may or may not actually be a baby on skis.
Amazingly, the reverse is even more charmingly crude, depicting either a discombobulated seated figure or possibly a bicycle accident. Not sure which.
The piece itself is a fantastic, lustrous, golden brass example as nice as any Blacksmith Token we've seen of any variety.
