Breen-980, W-5785 Eagle Left variety, considered to be Rarity-5+.

Always one of the most popular colonial issues with its impressive New York arms obverse complete with depictions of Liberty and Justice above the Latin legend EXCELSIOR (translated as Ever Higher), and a Heraldic Eagle reverse.

And this a pleasing golden brown XF example with nice detail and an old time provenance traceable back 110 years.

Ex Stack's Fixed Price List of 1989, #C153; earlier Henry Chapman's June 1909 sale of the Andrew C. Zabriskie Collection, lot #77.
