Betts-520, W-8345 variety, considered to be Rarity-6 with about 25 known according to Chris McDowell’s new census data.

This is the first example of this rare issue we’ve offered in a while, and it is quite a nice one.  Well made, evenly struck, quite sharp for the issue, with some indication that it was once silvered, but now toned down to a deep, rich brown.

This is one of just 7 graded by PCGS in all grades in Brass (PCGS coin #232), with 1 tied and 2 finer. PCGS has graded 1 additional piece as ‘Silvered’ (PCGS coin #235) in AU55.
