Well, they may not be quite that good, but we do contract with the best photographers in the business to showcase our inventory as clearly and accurately as possible.
And lately the results have been pretty amazing.
For instance, check out the 1937 Antietam Half Dollar in our 'Classic Commemoratives' inventory section.
The coin is stunning in
hand, but it takes a true master of the craft to capture the luster and subtle color on this coin and make you want to leap into your computer monitor and pluck the coin right off the screen (though frankly a phone call or email order is preferred).
In contrast (and in an effort to humiliate Dave) I asked him to shoot one of our coins in-house using our deluxe, high-end, no-excuses photography set up and produce the best image he could.
The results of his efforts can be seen in the listing of our 1925 Norse Medal. And while they are perfectly serviceable (and maybe even better than a lot of what we see on other dealer sites) they just don't show that coin exactly as it looks in hand.
Good effort Dave, but recognizing that "a man's gotta know his limitations", the current images will be only temporary until we can have this piece re-shot by the experts.
