A very attractive example of this interesting Colorado gold issue.

The design is quite similar to the then-circulating federal half eagle,  but here Ms. Liberty’s coronet reads PIKES PEAK instead of the more traditional LIBERTY, and CLARK, GRUBER & CO DENVER replaces UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the reverse.

The coin itself is quite pleasing, with good color, a relatively bold strike and just a bit of the surface roughness typically seen on this type.

Overall, a choice piece, and a good value in our view for an issue that leaps in price in higher grades.
