Ok – here’s the deal.  We see lots of these on the market, usually dipped, sometimes harshly cleaned, frequently ugly, poorly struck and unappealing.  And, not surprisingly, we can buy those pretty cheap.  But of course we don’t. 

Instead, we seek out pieces that look like this one, with a lovely, sharp even strike and beautiful old multi-colored toning on the obverse and reverse.
