A most unusual piece of a type we have not encountered before.

Deemed a pattern by PCGS, this example is struck in the typical bath metal composition but then copper plated and with flashes of gilt on the reverse.

Possibly unique like this, very pleasing in appearance and not likely to come again anytime soon.

Ex Bowers March 1988 sale of the Norweb Collection, Part II, lot #2418; earlier Henry Chapman’s December 1908 sale of the Kuntz Yates Collections.

$2,000
