Betts 469, H.71. Unsigned. Silver, Ornamented Edge.
An interesting medal, struck by the mint at Lima to celebrate the coronation of Carlos III and his dominion over the Viceroyalty of Peru.
The obverse portrait highlights the King’s impressive proboscis in its full glory, while the reverse depicts the arms of the city of Lima within the Pillars of Hercules, surrounded by an oath of allegiance to the new King.
Lovely, original coin gray with attractive toning. Holed at the top for suspension, as are most of this type.
