May 5, 2008: "A Cannon Once"

Concept:
Since we like to make our captions very specific and tie them directly to the coin shown, we try find the one definitive attribute which is unique to the featured item and base our caption on that. In this case, it was easy – as no other coin we’ve ever offered, seen, heard about (or spent) can claim to have been made from a melted down cannon.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We had a few other gun themes, but I have to admit that they were horrendous.

"Gun Control, CRO Style." sounded like some kind of bizarro political statement, while "Send lawyers, guns and money (or combine the last two)." was sure to confuse every single numismatist who doesn’t like Warren Zevon music (as well as most of the ones that do).

Thankfully, my lovely wife came up with what we thought was a much better alternative. So we used it.
