September 5, 2011: "All Good Things"

Concept:
In our effort to find new and interesting ways to highlight our fondness for lovely original coins like this late date New Orleans Half Dollar, we have this week invoked the insightful words of 19th century British philosopher John Stuart Mill (yes, the same guy about whom I wrote a totally excellent essay in 11th grade, signed copies of which are unfortunately no longer available).

And while we are not 100% sure that Mill was referring to numismatic originality here, and he probably would not have expected that his ideas would one day grace a 1/4 page CRO ad underneath a coin that had not been minted yet, this quote seems most appropriate in our humble opinion.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Since we knew we were going with this idea straight away, the only question was how to make it fit in the ad, since ideally I wanted it to be on one line with the author’s name below.

Unfortunately, that forced the ‘All‘ and the ‘ity‘ extreeeeemely close to the black border, which really looked terrible.

So we didn’t do that.
