Concept:
Certainly many of our readers have heard the phrase "Ship of Gold." used in a numismatic context.

Though of course it normally refers to the 280 foot sidewall steamer S.S. Central America which sank off the coast of the Carolinas in 1857 with 30,000 pounds of gold on board, and not, say, to a spectacular über-gem early 19th century Dutch silver piece like this week’s featured item.

But since this coin has a ship on it toned in brilliant gold, well, we simply had to use it here too.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
