Concept:
Among the pantheon of animal-themed coins, the colonial era Elephant Token ranks extremely high.

And why shouldn’t it? With its stately, well-executed and surprisingly accurate Elephant motif (engraved at a time when some contemporary illustrations depicted Rhinos with giant Jurassic Park-style fangs) well placed and neatly highlighted on a legend-free obverse.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
There was some debate among CRO staffers whether the phrase ‘Animal Magnetism’ could actually be applied to an Elephant, since it more typically finds itself attached to predators.

But then we decided what the heck and decided to use it anyway.
