July 2, 2018: "Laugh Loudest"

Author:
J. Agre

Concept:
When confronted with this the superb, lustrous 1787 Connecticut ‘Laughing Head’ Copper, we simply knew we needed a laughing inspired caption.

Ultimately going with this "Laugh Loudest." version which seemed suitable for what is likely the finest known example of this issue.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our first attempt on this one was "Have a Good Laugh.", which we rejected for two reasons;

We were concerned that some readers might gloss over the ‘Laughing Head’ variety name and think this caption referred to our price, and
This coin isn’t merely a ‘good’ Laughing Head, it’s frankly epic, and thus we felt that even among the readers who ‘got it’, the sentiment wasn’t as strong as it could be.

So we went instead for the version in our final ad.
