Nelson-8 variety, listed as Rarity-7- (with a total extant population of 10-13 pieces) in the Stephen’s census.
And it’s a curious piece, different from Nelson-15 (itself an R-4) only in the flower emblem (instead of a circle) on the lower portion of the reverse harp.
It’s also a variety which has been frequently mis-attributed in specialist catalogs through the years, including Stack’s March 1975 Spence sale, the Norweb catalog and the October, 2004 Ford V sale, all of which contained a Nelson-15 erroneously described as a Nelson-8.
But all this variety talk aside, this is an absolutely lovely example of a Voce Populi (or any colonial for that matter), totally original, with superb surfaces, near ideal color and pleasing natural gloss.
