A dollar-sized medal struck in honor of Dr. Franz Josef Gall, a German neuro-anatomist and physiologist considered to be the father of phrenology (the detailed study of the shape and size of the cranium as a supposed indication of character and mental abilities).

With a draped skull on one side, and a portrait of Dr. Gall on the other.

The piece itself is all original, golden and gray Choice AU.
