Breen-256 variety, one of the Gloriam Regni issues specifically authorized for circulation in the French Colonies of North America.

Interestingly, at some point PCGS changed their designation of this type from a ‘5 Sols’ to a ‘5 Sol’, which sounds a little like calling a half dollar a ’50 Cent’.  So we’re sticking with the plural version in our title.

The coin itself is sharply struck, richly toned in pretty deep blue, subtle rose and golden orange and wholly representative for type.
