July 5, 2021: "Bellum Belle"

Concept:
We took a risk this time, incorporating a word that seems like it should be a word, but actually isn’t (at least in English).

You see, we figured if antebellum is used to mean pre-Civil War (which it is), and postbellum means post-Civil War (which it does), then the period of the actual Civil War would logically be called Bellum.

So it would then follow that a charming, original example of a coin struck during the Civil War could thus be described, alliteratively, as a “Bellum Belle.”

There were none.

We knew we were going with this idea from the get go.
