A classic early American medal commissioned for George Washington for his achievement in forcing the British to flee from Boston on March 17th, 1776.
With a portrait of Washington on the obverse, and a scene of Washington and his troops watching the British sail from Boston Harbor with the legend HOSTIBUS PRIMO FUGATIS (translated as The Enemy for the First Time Put to Flight), and BOSTONIUM RECUPERATUM XVII MARTII MDCCLXXVI (translated as Boston is Recaptured, 17 March 1776).
