GW-130, Baker-160 variety, struck in Silver. 32.4 mm.
Struck for the Philadelphia Civic Procession on February 19th, 1832, the 100th anniversary of Washington’s birth.
While this type can be found with some regularity in white metal, this silver striking is a rare and desirable issue. And this is a lovely example, all original, with blue-gray toning in the obverse devices, and pretty shades of rose, gold, green and blue on the reverse.
Ex Stack’s-Bowers November 2019 sale of the William Spohn Baker Collection / Historical Society of Pennsylvania Collection, lot #20106.
