Maris 14-J, W-4810 variety, the so-called Stegosaurus Head type.

A superb and well pedigreed example which can be traced to Stack’s sale of the John J. Ford Collection where it was described by Michael Hodder as “Probable Finest Known and a simply amazing example of this variety.”

To which we would add that this is the nicest example of this variety we’ve ever had, with razor sharp detail, superb surfaces, 18th century mint red lingering in the devices and exceptional eye appeal.

Ex Stack’s October 2004 sale of the Ford Collection, as noted, lot #87; earlier F.C.C. Boyd; earlier Hillyer Ryder; earlier Henry C. Miller.

$77,500
