The first American made Washington Medal, this issue ranks #17 in the 100 Greatest American Medals and Tokens reference by Katherine Jaeger and Q. David Bowers.

The piece itself is nice and original, with choice golden brown color and an especially strong strike with full reverse legends including the all-important J. MANLY & Co. 1790 at the rim, as this feature was effaced on some strikings.
