February 1, 2010: "Actual Size"

Concept:
We wanted to do some kind of ad discussing the gigantic size (relative to its modern cousins) of this cool early quarter, but then decided we could go that one better by, in a first for us, showing the coin in the ad actual size.

The result of which is this totally new interactive CRO concept which invites the reader, as he is flipping through the pages of CW or NN, to casually remove a Washington Quarter from his pocket, lay it on top of the coin in the ad, and remark “Hey, look how skimpy the modern issue is in comparison!“.

Go ahead, try it.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We knew we we’re going with this idea, but had no idea how complicated it would be to create versions of this ad for CoinWorld and Numismatic News, in different sizes and formats, so the coin photo would be the right size in print.

But after 143 attempts and a lot of measuring, we think we accomplished it.
