Concept:
This was a totally new idea we came up with for our "Official ANA Issue" ad.

We thought it would be interesting to show an image of a coin no one had ever seen before and then not say one word about it so as to create some mystery and excitement about what exactly we’d have to offer at the ANA, and thus get people to come to our table.

And it worked. I think we had 112 calls about this ad, many people came to the table to ask about it and we ended up buying a deal of Pillar coins at the show based on it.

Cations that didn’t make the cut:
We kept trying to think of a clever one liner which we could put in this ad, but the coin really didn’t lend itself to one, we couldn’t think of anything great and so we decided to go with just the table number.

In retrospect, we should have tried harder or picked a different coin which was of more general interest (or which was better caption fodder), as this ad suggested that we were specialists in Pillar Dollars only. Which we aren’t.
