July 7, 2008: "Ccooooll!"

Concept:
This one is a little obvious, but sometimes the best ideas are. And it sure seemed like an impactful way to reinforce the key attribute of the featured coin.

The other objective this week was to feature a good old American, mainstream, regular coin, since we have had so many weird and esoteric items in our ads (and we do not want to be known as a dealer that only handles that sort of material).

Fact is, we handle anything cool – as long as it meets are quality standards.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
This was really the only caption we considered. Dave sketched this idea on a napkin during a lull in an auction about a month ago, and we both knew it was a keeper straight away.

The only issue we faced at all was how to write the coin description. We didn’t have enough space to write the standard ‘1955 Lincoln Cent Double Die’, so we left out the ‘Lincoln’ part.

Because everyone knows Lincoln, right?
