April 20, 2015: "Classic Black"

Concept:
Not a very complicated message this week, as we sought to highlight this rare and über-desirable beautifully toned MS66 Gold CAC 1837 No Stars Dime housed in an equally rare and über-desirable NGC black slab (the type used by NGC from their first days of operation in 1987 and continuing for only two short months, with just 30 confirmed examples surviving today).

The problem was that we have handled a few of these slabs through the years (20% of the surviving population) and featured two others in ads, using up a lot of good ideas already. But then, just when things were looking especially bleak, my wife came through with this elegant solution.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We were very very close to using "Black Magic.", a perfectly good caption that we used once before in October of 2011.

But even though that was a long time ago, we are glad to provide CW readers with the ‘newness’ they deserve.
