August 19, 2013: "Crown Jewel"

Concept:
Given that this week’s subject coin is a lovely, original 1601 Great Britain Crown featuring an extreeemely regal Queen Elizabeth wearing a jeweled crown on the obverse, it was clear that a crown-related caption would be necessary.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our first crown concept was "Crowning Achievement.", which does contain the word crown in a familiar phrase, but the use of the word ‘achievement’ seemed quite odd in this context.

So we tried "Crown thy Good.", which again features the word crown in a caption that otherwise makes very little sense.

Which led us to the completely different "You’ll love the coin; your dog will hate the collar.", which attempted to make an Elizabethan collar gag that I suspect would have bewildered many of our non-dog owning readers.

So we scrapped all of those and went for the clear, concise and fairly obvious choice in our final ad.
