April 13, 2009: "Cue Judy Garland"

Concept:
First off, we should apologize for this one. You see, Dave and I were having dinner a few weeks ago and we decided it would be fun to do a wacko ad and see what would happen.

So when we saw this coin, we started imagining all kinds of ridiculous rainbow related gags, eventually getting to songs, including ‘Somewheeeeere, over the Rainbow’ as sung by Judy Garland. And the rest is history.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
One of our clients came up with "The Color of Money.", which is sort of cool, and highlights a color coin in a memorable way, though unfortunately it is also reminiscent of an extremely bad Tom Cruise movie in which he plays pool while wearing a black T-shirt that says VINCE on it.

At the same time, the same client and I both independently came up with concepts related to Roy G. Biv (i.e. the mnemonic device for remembering the colors of the rainbow: Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet) as follows:

His: "Roy G. Biv was here."

Mine: "Pedigreed to the Roy G. Biv Collection?"

Interestingly, we both then independently concluded that these were too geeky to use.
