January 25, 2010: "Dan Quayle Spelled Here?"

Concept:
The most interesting attribute of our featured item (aside from that cool pineapple) is the fact that Barbados is spelled with an extraneous E wholly reminiscent of that time in 1992 when then Vice President Quayle attended a spelling bee at Muñoz Rivera Elementary School in Trenton, NJ and altered a student’s correctly spelled ‘Potatos’ by adding his own similarly extraneous E.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our first effort this week was “Are you pining for this pineapple?“, before deciding that we were better off saving that angle for an ad containing a 1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree coin.

Leading us to “Pineapple Express.“, which seemed relevant, but didn’t actually say anything interesting or informative about the featured item.

So we scrapped that immediately and went for our guest author’s version in our final ad.
