August 11, 2025: "Dream C.A.R."

25-08-11

Author:
J. Agre

Concept:
Your average Central American Republic (C.A.R.) gold coin is either cleaned and unoriginal, ex-jewelry, damaged, bent, or some unholy combination of the above.

But this one is a fantastic, original, lustrous, old toned Choice AU which is about the nicest example of this denomination we’ve ever had. In other words, it’s a Dream C.A.R., which we liked as a caption since it neatly plays on the phrase Dream Car, which is typically some kind of Lamborghini.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We briefly considered Electric C.A.R. which is kind of the same thing, but not as good.

So we did not use it.
