October 17, 2011: "Dream Fulfillment"

Concept:
Thinking back (waaaay back for some of us) to when you were a kid first interested in coins, many of us dreamed about owning the famous rarities: A 1909-S VDB Cent, of course, a 1916-D Mercury Dime, and an 1893-S Morgan Dollar to name but a few. And certainly on that list would be the 1955 Doubled Die Cent, with that incredibly bold error that looked so cool in those old Redbook photos.

Of course, back then, with a numismatic budget derived from a modest weekly allowance and possibly the few bucks earned cutting the neighbor’s lawn (and bagging the clippings), owning any of these would remain just a dream for most of us. But now, years later, and with perhaps a slightly better job, you can fulfill this dream simply by calling our 800 number, allowing the adult version of yourself to acquire this beautiful, original, old-holdered 1955 DDO Cent.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We had several this week, beginning with "Our favorite mistake.", which is not just a cool Sheryl Crow lyric, but also aptly describes this error coin in a concise and memorable way that we frankly liked enough to use in a CRO ad. But not this week.

Instead, we opted for the childhood dream angle, beginning with "Childhood dreams fulfilled here.", before concluding that we wanted an extra CRO in the caption as seen in our final ad.
