December 16, 2013: "Franklincent & Mirth"

Concept:
In the spirit of the holidays, our guest author helped us shoehorn this bold, mirth-inducing Franklin Half Dollar struck on a cent planchet (a Franklincent, as it were) into an admittedly forced but likely to be memorable numismatic rendition of the Maji-gifted Gold Frankincense & Myrrh.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our first effort this week was the concise Franklin and Lincoln-combining "Franklincoln". And while that was technically accurate, it performed poorly in our ‘seasonality’ test.

So we embarked on the holiday direction, starting with "Franklincent & More." But that only teased at the direction, causing us to expand to "This Bold Franklincent may bring you Mirth." before figuring what the heck and going with the full-blown Maji treatment.
