January 12, 2009: "FUN 2009 Part 1 of 3"

Concept:
None of our usual hi-la-rious gags and clever word play here, just an ad (one of three we ran in this issue!) to highlight the collection of Type II California fractional gold coins we are offering at the 2009 FUN show.

The reader will also note that while last week’s MS66 Bar ad was in the official CW FUN Show Issue, this ad (and the other 2 similar ones) were scheduled to run more around the time the show was actually taking place, and thus intended to give us a little awareness boost at just the right time.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We kept fiddling around with how to say ‘Selections’ or use another word to make it clear that it wasn’t the whole Easton Collection. Because it’s not.

We also debated whether or not to explicitly state in the ad that these coins were actually being offered for sale (as opposed to simply being displayed or something), but in the end we assumed people would figure it out and so we intentionally omitted any sort of overt ‘For Sale’ language (mostly because we like the look of a lot of white space in the ads and didn’t want to clutter it up with a lot of words).

The coins will be for sale, by the way.
