July 5, 2010: "Go Green"

Concept:
We decided it was time for a celebration of ‘green holder-ness’, highlighting this cool, original, attractive, affordable Capped Bust Half Dollar looking quite nice in its old green holder of a sort used by PCGS only between 1995 and 1998.

Which proves without doubt that no one has enhanced, improved, toned, handled or even so much as touched this coin anytime in at least the last dozen years or more, and that the coin and its current appearance are stable (and given the acceleration of nefarious doctoring activities during this same period, that is a comforting thing in our opinion).

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We considered all sorts of different things for this ad, including a caption we originally came up with last year:

"If you like dipped coins, go ahead and turn the page now."

We rejected that the first time because we thought that even though it was positive with regards to our coin, it had a negative connotation overall. And on second thought (i.e. this time) we decided we still felt the same way.

Which led us to this familiar environmentally conscious tag line in the final ad, which we thought would engender positive feelings while also reinforcing the green holder theme in a memorable and concise way.
