June 20, 2011: "Graced the Cabinets"

Concept:
As has been been well documented on this site, we love a good pedigree story for a couple of reasons:

1. It suggests that this piece was deemed worth owning by some well-heeled collectors of the past (who presumably had their choice of many other examples of this type through the years but selected this one).

2. It is an insurance policy, of sorts, that allows you to know where a coin has been, how it was evaluated through the years, and that it looked then exactly as it does now.

We also like to occasionally mix in these weighty numismatic ads with the goofy ones we’ve run in past weeks and months to remind our readers that while we do like to have fun, we take our coins pretty seriously.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Just some minor variations on this same theme, as we tested ". . . resided in the significant collections . . ." vs ". . . graced the cabinets . . ."

Ultimately, though, we decided that the language in final version had a nice ring to it. So we used it.
