Concept:
Presented with this really great example of a Grate Halfpenny, it did not take our guest author very long to come up with this short, punchy, homonym-o-rific and extremely literal caption which sounded like something we might have used before in a different ad, but I assure you we did not.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Once this idea was ‘in play’, I kept thinking of some kind of Great-great-grandfather gag, but nothing that ever made it to full caption form (and that’s probably good, since it sounds kind of lame as I am typing this).

So we went with the first idea, which is often best.
