Concept:
The most compelling feature of this week’s item, and thus the subject of our caption is Running Antelope, Chief of the Oncpapa Sioux, whose stern likeness is boldly printed on the front of this note (the first and only time a Native American image was used as the central motif on any U.S. paper currency).

As an aside, it is said that the Chief did not want to sit for his portrait while wearing his head dress, so the engraver added one which was unfortunately that of a different tribe, the Pawnee.

This was the the first one we thought of, and we liked it.
