December 29, 2008: "Happy Holidays 2008!"

Concept:
After last year’s very popular decorated Pine Tree Shilling, it seemed only natural that this year we’d feature another timeless classic in our holiday ad – the ubiquitous front door-style Wreath. And, like last year, it took a while to get it just right, with enough of the leaf detail showing through to give it some texture and make it look like a colorized genuine coin, and not some big goofy cartoon thing that might be perfectly acceptable for some other dealers, but not us.

I must also give kudos to my son Steven, whose idea it was to add the plaid bow (and who figured out how to make it work). Nice touch, I thought.

We decided to go with the caption written by our author for last year’s holiday ad, on which we plan to look back in thirty years or so with a feeling of profound joy as we see the exact moment when a classic, continuous CRO holiday tradition began.
