December 6, 2010: "How Many Cents?"

Concept:
When trying to determine the most compelling aspect of the featured item this week, we were a bit torn (admittedly a terrible word to use when discussing any piece of currency).

I thought we should focus on the fact that this is a Fugio note, bearing the same famous and extremely popular Benjamin Franklin imagery most often seen on the 1776 Continental Currency coins and the 1787 Fugio Coppers.

Dave, on the other hand, thought the oddball denomination was a better ‘hook’ for the ad.

Ultimately, we went with Dave, figuring that in doing so we’d have people lingering over the ad doing the math, at which time they’d have ample opportunity to check out the cool Fugio imagery on this note (complete with sundial and neatly printed MIND YOUR BUSINESS).

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We considered several Fugio-in-note-form themes, including the only slightly clever "Note-worthy Fugio.", and "Take note of this Fugio.".

But both of those seemed a bit pedestrian, leading us to the mathematical caption to your left.
