November 7, 2016: "Hypnotic Patriotic"

Concept:
We’ve always been intrigued by this particular colonial issue, one of just two types in the entire American series to bear this patriotic date (the other being the Continental Dollar), with this issue just a weeeeee bit more affordable.

And this is the single finest example we’ve ever had a chance to buy, with as much detail as was ever cut into these dies, lovely, original color and nothing (nil, nada) in the way of post minting distractions.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our first attempt this week was (not surprisingly, given the above) "One of just two 1776-dated coins in the American series.", which struck us as both pedestrian AND cumbersome, never ideal for an ad caption.

After which we spun our wheels with similarly uninspired captions for 2 solid days until our guest author came through in a big way with a whole new angle which seemed just right for this piece.

So we used it.
