July 21, 2008: "Neither Does Anyone Else"

Concept:
We’ve always like these ads that are a little unexpected, and a little controversial – the type that someone who has absolutely no interest in or knowledge of the coin presented will notice and say "Huh? What does THAT mean?" and endeavor to explore it further.

And that was the hope in this case, as we presented a popular coin in an oft seen series with a medium-sized mystery attached to it. To the best of our knowledge, there exists no definitive word or tangible proof as to what the "P" on this coin means – just some theories bandied about (or shot down, as Breen does to some of the earlier ideas).

We actually hope that someone steps forward, tells us we’re nuts and that the ad is W-R-O-N-G, since controversy isn’t the worst thing for an advertiser. But we don’t expect that to happen.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The alternatives were variations on this theme, including "Do you know what the P Stands for?", and "No one knows what the P stands for."

But those alone didn’t seem nearly interesting enough, so we figured we’d combine them for maximum impact.
