Concept:
Since this lovely, original, XL, silver medal bears one of the most interesting designs of this era, we thought it appropriate to explain exactly what it means.

Namely that it symbolically illustrates the rivalry between 17th century Spain and the Netherlands for New World booty. How cool is that? Very.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We briefly considered some sort of rival or rivalry rhyme, but the best thing we could come up with was something using the world archival, which seemed like it might work.

Alas, it didn’t.
