March 23, 2009: "Resume"

Concept:
I’ve always thought the back of this colonial era token was interesting in that it includes important milestones in George Washington’s career presented as if on a round copper resume.

And given the current economic news, and the all the discussions we’re all hearing about job seekers, it seemed quite appropriate to do a resume-themed ad in which even Washington himself receives the standard corporate brush-off that companies’ give people they have absolutely no intention of ever hiring.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The only alternative we considered was to leave out the "be sure to" so that the caption would read as:

"Thank you Mr. Washington – We’ll keep your resume on file."

But I felt that the addition of those three words best captured the subtle sarcasm and truly disingenuous nature of the comment as it is usually delivered by a helpful Human Resources Department employee.

So we went with it.
