June 30, 2014: "Scenic Overlook"

14 06 30

Author:
J. Agre

Concept:
Here we have a spectacular, golden brown, Newman pedigreed and extreeeemely well made example of this issue bearing a design which is 1) Extremely charming, 2) Totally, completely and thoroughly unlike any other coin in the early American series, and 3) Bearing a design similar to that which you might encounter at a scenic overlook on some Vermont highway.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We knew we were going in this general direction, starting with the more conventional "Nice View."

But that seemed too obvious, so we went with the more oblique version in our final ad.
