July 2, 2007: "Stratego"

Concept:
We actually bought this coin for several reasons:

Its a stone cold gem.
It has pretty toning on the obverse and reverse.
It is pedigreed to Eliasberg.
It features Kaiser Wilhelm II wearing a totally cool hat.

And since that hat reminded Dave and me of the hats on the various Stratego pieces we played with when we were kids, we simply had to mention that in the ad.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Actually, the hat shown on the coin is most similar to the Miner’s helmet in Stratego (without the bird on it), but we thought saying ‘Field Marshall’ was funnier. In point of fact, the Field Marshall’s hat in Stratego is a Naval hat with a pom-pon on it that looks nothing like the coin.

But we reserve the right to take this sort of artistic license in our ads.
