January 30, 2023: "Stuff of Dreams"

Concept:
When I was about 7, I dreamed of owning a 1916-D Mercury Dime. And I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only kid thinking that way.

So when our guest author suggested a well known phrase encapsulating that dreamy sentiment, we thought it was a perfect way to highlight this epic, long off the market, all original, Choice Unc., old holdered example.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We considered a few classic lines suitable for a coin of this magnitude, first focusing on the famously miniscule mintage with “One of just 264,000 struck.” But that seemed awfully dry.

So we tried a totally different direction focusing on the backstory of this piece, namely the fact that it is fresh as a daisy with “Off the market for a generation.”

And while that was tempting (and totally true, by the way), we thought the caption in our final ad was the clear winner.
