June 1, 2015: "Tangerine Dream"

Concept:
Given the utterly striking shades of rich orange toning on this über-gem Walking Liberty Half Dollar, we knew we had to do some kind of color themed caption.

Fortunately, our guest author had proposed this caption several months ago for a different toned coin. And while it wasn’t our first choice at that time, we held it in reserve knowing that the right coin would come along eventually. Such as today, for example.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The best things we can say about our first effort "Orange is the new black." is that it is a topical theme based on the hit Netflix series of the same name, and it does have the word orange in it. Of course, as a show about a women’s prison, it isn’t exactly the kind of association considered most desirable by numismatic advertisers.

So we moved on to "Orange you glad you subscribe to CoinWorld.", again utilizing orange and implying that the reader’s fortunate subscription decision allowed him to see this cool coin. But we concluded that was too juvenile, too indirect and definitely worse than the first idea, so we ditched this one too.

Finally settling on the fresh, original, more memorable and more uplifting caption in our final ad.
