Concept:
When you offer a coin this significant, our view is that it’s best to dispense with the jokes and instead make a serious statement highlighting the piece.

Such as noting that this very coin is plated in "The Early Coins of America", the then (and still) definitive reference on colonial and early American coins published by Sylvester Crosby waaaay back in 1875

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We knew we were going with this idea, though we did consider a more detailed caption which included the full name of Crosby’s work before deciding that the concise statement was more impactful. Also, readers may remember that we featured a different Crosby plate coin using such a similar caption in May of 2010.

And so even if we wanted to, we couldn’t do that again.
